Visiting Instructor of English @ UCA

I am pleased to announce that I am serving as Visiting Instructor of English at the University of Central Arkansas for the AY 2021-2022. I am having a great time teaching my UCA students, many of whom are first-generation college students and enthusiastic to be in the classroom. They are a delight!

This semester I am teaching two sections of Film and Literature and one section of Introduction to Poetry. It has been a blast so far. We just finished watching four adaptations of the Dracula narrative in Film and Lit, and while I thought they would be all “Dracula’d” out, they were still asking for more. (The meme in the featured image—a manipulation of Spider-man pointing at Spider-man— was made by students in my class, as an experiment in micro-adaptation.)

Next semester, I’ll be teaching three more sections of Film and Literature, as well as a class called Literature and Social Responsibility: Sublime Nature and the Ethics of Enjoyment. I’m looking forward to this new-to-me class, which will be focused around the way we can learn new ways to appreciate and tend to nature through literature.
